The Blue House Experience

Lessons take place on my grand piano in the living room. Parents are welcome to relax in the downstairs family room, on the patio, or in the gazebo (weather permitting). Our 5-acre lot provides a peaceful setting. You're also welcome to drop students off—just please be mindful of the time so transitions between students run smoothly.

Most weeks, I send students off with a homemade cookie—just because!

Students will use the Faber series: Lesson, Technique & Artistry, and Theory books, along with supplemental pieces by engaging composers. We also include exercises and scales to build strong fundamentals. My teaching focuses on notes, rhythm, technique, vocabulary, creativity, and a variety of musical styles and genres.

Throughout the year, students will have the chance to take part in small studio exchanges with fellow “Blue House Studio” pianists, and the year concludes with a spring recital at the Hastings Arts Center.
